Plot

As told by Sahadev Varma (Ravi Teja), the story focuses on wild cotton grown by the natives of Talakona. But things take a drastic turn in Sahadev’s life after journalist Nalini (Anupama Parameswran) uncovers that the rare cotton Sahadev grows sold on the European market makes for a lucrative crop. But her article unwittingly has Sahadev in the line of fire of several powerful groups, including terrorists, naxals, and even RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). Who exactly is Sahadev? So why is he in Talakona, and why is he being targeted by such forces? This one is thrilling and answers unravel in this one.

Performance

Ravi Teja is out of his comfort zone and does a good job as Sahadev. As much a mass appeal in India as he is, Teja’s approach is much more mature and nuanced, yet his body language transformation, expression, and dialogue delivery are all compelling. The idea is to have him carry the film’s action sequences with remarkable energy for each scene. Even the journalist who brings him into the limelight, Anupama Parameswaran, does a good job of layering the film’s narrative. Kavya Thapar has depth in her character, even if on screen she is not much of one.

Direction and Screenplay

In this project, Karthik Ghattamaneni not only wears the hat of the director, but also that of the cinematographer, and he has a very clear vision for Eagle. Each frame is carefully crafted as one would expect from someone with experience behind the camera, the whole thing is tight, but tense, global context of the story. His direction is good, but the first half of the screenplay stumbles a bit with pacing and too much buildup. It saves itself from the drudgery of the second half with intense action and faster narrative momentum. Ghattamaneni’s style melds a social theme into the action thriller genre successfully, but some of the dialogue and even the moments of high drama may go a hair too far.

Music

Davzand’s music for the film’s fun high energy and tense atmosphere work well with the thriller element of the film. The field of action scene background score is intensified by the score and the compositions balance through the storyline without having a standout track that sticks out. Overall, the music does its job effectively, adding to the suspense without detracting from the narrative.

Theme

Eagle takes on a global theme and wove it into a story of survival, identity, and fighting the social and political forces. The scarcity of Sahadev’s unique cotton crop becomes a metaphor for these abundance conflicts when resources become commodities. The film is relevant as Ghattamaneni intends to highlight current global issues, which are the layers above a standard action thriller. But the film also pays some attention to relationships, with the plot turning on the back of romance.

Conclusion

Eagle succeeds in bringing Ravi Teja in a new role and offers a storyline to question some important things. The movie has action sequences, Ravi Teja has made a brilliant performance and has good production values for an average film. But the story’s slow start, and some too dramatic moments, may leave the audience waiting. Eagle is flawed, but it’s a good action thriller on iBomma for people who like it and a good place to find thought-provoking content. If you’re a Ravi Teja fan or an action freak then Eagle is a must-watch.
