Plot
Lucky Baskhar takes place in the late 80s, in Mumbai, based on the life of Bhaskar (Dulquer Salmaan), a bespectacled bank employee who doesn’t get the promotion he so desperately deserves. He is disgruntled by this and decides to rob his bank, uses the stolen money to run illegal ventures, and also becomes a great lover. The world of high-stakes finance is his new world and his greed grows. A few years later, Bhaskar joined stock market tycoon Harsha Mehra and together they got rich.
That risky collaboration is noticed by the CBI, and Bhaskar finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Things start to fall apart in Bhaskar’s marriage (with his wife Meenakshi Chaudhary), and the second half of the film follows Bhaskar’s attempts to redeem himself with his name and his life in a maelstrom of deceit and corruption.
Performance
Considered one of the best performances by Dulquer Salmaan, Bhaskar is an emotional wreck and a moral conflict that he navigates and lives with perfectly. Bhaskar’s efforts, as an actor, to bring out the balance between ambition and guilt in his character is not only nuanced, he makes the journey of a man relatable as does another person from a similar position. Salmaan natural charm and restrained intensity come alive in moments of life changing decisions. Lucky Baskhar: It’s a Thrilling Ride Into Ambition and Greed
Lucky Baskhar too has been one of the most awaited films of recent years and with the talented Dulquer Salmaan playing the lead role, it is being awaited and looked forward to. Venky Atluri directed the movie which has been making news for the compelling story and star cast. Meenakshi Chaudhary stars alongside Salmaan, who makes another film even more exciting to moviegoers. The film—the work of two presidential brothers—will be released on October 31, 2024: all the ambition, all the greed, all the cost of bad decisions and murder.
Direction and Screenplay
Lucky Baskhar is one of the highlights of Venky Atluri’s direction. Atluri is known for his dialectically sharp storytelling, which always holds clearly to action, emotion, and suspense. The first half of the movie concerns Bhaskar’s financial troubles, which lead him to commit a crime, a setup for some big moral quandaries. The screenplay is so good at defining complex banking and financial ideas in a way that does not rely on melodrama to keep the story accessible to normal viewers.
But the second half is fast and exciting with its moments and high-stakes drama that kicks in a little bit slow. However, Atluri finds a way to cleverly insert clues to the most infamous of India’s stock market scams — the Harshad Mehta scandal — to add a timely, realistic note to proceedings. The climax is neatly done, with a stuffing of the gorilla bag in the face of Bhaskar’s character arc.
Music
The crucial part in making a film enjoyable is its music and GV Prahisak Kumar’s music for the film adds tremendously in making the film a great experience. The songs capture the emotional depth of the characters, in the more intimate scene, while they milk the heaviness of the characters in the high-intensity moment. The music, as it is, does not take center stage, but forms another layer of engaging the audience without distracting from the story.
Theme
The greed, ambition, and repercussions of making the wrong choices are what Lucky Baskhar tackles. The film looks at how being consumed by the search for wealth makes a person risk mad decisions, and witness the destruction of his relationships. The redemption angle comes into play when Bhaskar tries and attempts to correct his deeds, rectify his mistakes, and clear himself. The story also takes place against the backdrop of the 1980s stock market scandal, bringing history into the picture to show the risk of very quick wealth, and the ethics people will bend to obtain it.
Conclusion
Overall, Lucky Baskhar is an amazing movie with a good amount of enjoyable side moments that are fun and an interesting story topped off with stellar performances and a smooth direction. However, at times the second half may feel a bit sluggish in terms of thrills, but the emotional beats will keep the viewer invested. Though the film is worth watching for Dulquer Salmaan’s performance, his fans and people just want to take a ride with ambition, greed, and redemption.
Lucky Baskhar is a great choice if you like action, drama, or character-driven stories, we have something for everyone whether you are a fan of action, drama, or character-driven stories. Thus, watch now on iBOMMA.
