Performance

Vasanth Ravi brings his passion and determination to Agni, and can convince us he’s an environmental crusader. It’s especially refreshing to see a YouTuber who genuinely wants to make a difference and reflects that in his portrayal.

Mithran, wearing many hats as fashion designer, journalist, painter and derivatives expert, is fully embraced as a figure of mystery, with superhuman abilities, by Sathyaraj. It has a timely and wide range nuance; his interpretation is bold, without special effects and the air gravitas of the story is amplified as players of audiences gaze in amazement at the character’s moral dilemma but most of all at his abilities.

The juxtaposition of Mithran’s superhuman ability with Agni’s street work feels so unique because Senniappan is able to find such a way to tell this story. Senniappan’s excellent dialogue for it is the perfect blend of the striking characters and themes he conjures in its storytelling.

Music

But one of the best things about Weapon is the soundtrack, composed by Ghibran. Glibran’s versatility is known for delivering a score that amplifies the emotional and dramatic moments of the film. The background music of action scenes takes up the tension high, and the songs fit into the film’s central points of the hope and perseverance.

The music is not only a good fit for the proceedings, but also acts as a narrative building move to pull audiences more into Agni’s environment. Ghibran’s compositions are likely to be a lasting impression, just like his previous works in Tamil cinema.

Themes

At its core, Weapon deals with the voice of environmental advocacy, the massive power of the media and the morality of superhumanl ability.
